Dr. Ghobad Azizi

Dr. Ghobad Azizi is fellowship trained and board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.  He has extensive background and training in treating Endocrine disorders, including thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism.  Dr. Azizi has done extensive research in thyroid nodules and performed several thousand FNA biopsies in the past 12 years.  His primary focus is management of thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and autoimmune thyroid diseases including hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. 

Dr. Azizi holds a North Carolina Permanent Medical License. Additionally, he is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist, The American Thyroid Association, The Endocrine Society and the North Carolina Medical Society.

In May of 2011, Dr. Azizi accepted appointment to serve on the Neck Ultrasound Certification Council at ACE (American College of Endocrinology) for the 2011-2012 college year.

Dr. Azizi was named one of North Carolina’s “Best Doctors” in 2011 by the Business North Carolina Journal.

Dr. Azizi completed a Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Connecticut, School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut and his Internship & Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Massachusetts, School of Medicine. He attended University of Hamburg, School of Medicine in Hamburg, Germany.

Dr. Azizi’s previously published study is one of the largest on thyroid nodules.  He is also currently involved with several prospective studies.
